China strongly opposes Canada’s final decision on Hua Aluminum extrusions

A few days ago, Canada made a final ruling on anti-dumping anti-dumping cases for aluminum extrusions, saying that the aluminum extrusions industry in China was not a market-oriented industry and ruled high anti-dumping duties and countervailing duties. Yao Jian, spokesman for the Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China, said on the 3rd that the Chinese government and industry expressed strong opposition to this ruling.
Yao Jian pointed out that China's aluminum extrusion industry is dominated by private enterprises and has a fiercely competitive industry. The formation of its product prices is entirely a result of market competition, and Canada’s determination that the industry is not a market-oriented industry is completely wrong. . Second, while Canada uses alternative data to calculate dumping margins, it also imposes countervailing duties. There are obviously duplicate problems that are not allowed by WTO rules and domestic laws. The Canadian side also has many mistakes in the investigation process, which seriously infringes on the legitimate rights and interests of the Chinese government and enterprises.
It is reported that China’s industry is evaluating the outcome of the final ruling. The China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association has suggested that the Chinese government resort to the WTO dispute settlement mechanism.
On March 17, the Canadian International Trade Tribunal will rule on the damage part of the case. China hopes to see the Canadian party make an objective and fair conclusion, and will take measures to actively safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese enterprises.
Yao Jian emphasized that China is Canada’s second largest trading partner. The two sides share many common interests in economic and trade cooperation. China and Canada should better resolve economic and trade frictions through bilateral dialogue and consultation.
