It turned out that during the research, the researchers found that in the cathode of the new fuel cell, water molecules participate in the oxygen reduction reaction but do not exist in large amounts, so the activation of water molecules has become a key factor. A new type of fuel cell developed based on this discovery is characterized by the use of non-noble metal catalysts.
