Because bearing lubrication is critical to spindle bearing performance and durability, the sealed HX design – Timken's Fafnir ® THSS (pure high-speed seal) bearing series protects lubricant while ensuring internal lubrication Free from external pollution, thus effectively extending bearing life.

Fafnir ® HX and THSS mandrel bearings further increase the investment efficiency of the mandrel bearing by increasing the throughput of the machining center and extending the bearing spacing.

Advantage 1 : The operating temperature is reduced. When the speed is close to 600,000 DN (700,000 DM), heat is quickly generated. The HX bearing design geometry minimizes the effects of shear on the lubricant at high speeds. Therefore, HX bearings have a low operating temperature and can be used at higher speeds.

Advantage 2 : High precision and accuracy. Timken's products have a runout tolerance that exceeds the ABEC9 (ISO P2) standard, so the HX and THSS series bearings are exceptionally accurate. By optimizing the fit of the shaft and housing, Timken encodes the inner and outer diameters of the bearing in microns to achieve better spindle performance.

Advantage 3 : Dynamic performance is super. Compared to other "small ball" seal designs, Fafnir ® THSS and HX bearing designs offer significant advantages in high speed applications: better control of radial clearance losses due to interference fit during installation, thus allowing 15 degree contact angles Operate to increase spindle stiffness. It is also possible to maintain a lower rotation/rolling ratio (ball braking factor) and reduce the contact angle deviation and increase the dynamic stiffness.

Advantage 4 : Improve processing output. Improved load capacity and higher speed limits help improve metal cutting.

Advantage 5 : A wide range of applications. It can be interchanged with any ISO Series 10 (and existing Fafnir ® 9100 or 991000) bearings, as long as it is comparable to the existing set size, no need to be modified.

Advantage 6 : Extended bearing life. Excessive operating temperatures are one of the most important factors influencing the performance of high speed grease applications. At high temperatures, the molecular bond between the grease thickener and the lubricating oil degrades, causing the lubricating oil to detach from the thickener and reducing the oil viscosity. This degradation of the lubricant will shorten the life of the bearing. With this in mind, the Fafnir ® THSS bearings are designed with ceramic balls as standard equipment.

Ceramic balls further reduce operating temperatures and achieve more precise machining accuracy and lower rolling element contact surface friction.

Advantage 7 : Avoid maintenance operations. Fafnir ® THSS dynamic bearing, non-contact seals designed to withstand external impurities lower operating torque design. Compared to open oil lubricated bearings, this type of bearing requires no maintenance.

Tapered Roller Bearings

Timken is the world's largest manufacturer of tapered roller bearings. Timken develops precision TS, TSF, TDO, and TNASWH bearings for the machine tool industry with accuracy levels from ISOP4 to ISOP2.

In general, since the tapered roller is a line contact, the tapered roller bearing of the same outer shape has a much higher rigidity than the ball bearing, but the rotational speed is lower than that of the ball bearing with respect to the ball bearing. Since the sliding friction between the large end of the tapered roller bearing roller and the large rib of the inner ring generates heat, the speed of the ordinary tapered bearing cannot be improved. In order to comply with the requirements of heavy cutting, high rigidity and high speed in the machine tool industry; to improve the lubrication between the big end of the roller and the large rib of the inner ring; Timken has specially developed TSMA and TSMR bearings. The design of the TSMA opens a plurality of axial lubricating oil holes on the large rib of the inner ring, and introduces lubricating oil between the large end face of the roller and the large rib of the inner ring to improve the lubrication condition and greatly improve the speed of the bearing. The TSMR is designed to improve the lubrication of the lubricating oil introduced into the large end face of the roller and the large rib of the inner ring by opening a plurality of radial lubricating oil holes in the inner ring of the bearing.

In addition, Timken has developed a hydraulic rib bearing (Hydra-Rib) designed to better optimize the preload of the spindle system. The outer ring of this bearing is floating, and the rib is in contact with the big end of the roller. Unlike the common bearing, there is a fixed inner ring rib. The floating rib is controlled by hydraulic oil, which can better control the bearing during operation. Preloading, improving spindle accuracy, static and dynamic stiffness, optimizing its preload for wider operating speeds, longer machine life when cutting forces, manual preloading with manual or computer programming, low operating temperature .

Another spring rib bearing (Spring-Rib) designed to optimize the preload of the spindle system. The bearing also has a floatable outer race. The floating rib is positioned by the spring system for preload control. . The spring rim bearing does not require a hydraulic system relative to the hydraulic rib bearing.
