Seiko Co., Ltd. has developed a "TRZ Series" clutch release bearing for manual transmissions that is 40% lighter than the original. Through the integrated design of components, the price has also been reduced, which has increased international competitiveness. The product was exhibited at the "People and Car Technology Show 2007" held at the Yokohama Convention and Exhibition Center in the Pacific Ocean from May 23 to 25, 2007.
In order to reduce the number of components, the original independent component, the sleeve embedded in the transmission input shaft, and the support that receives the separation fork force are integrally formed of resin. In addition, the outer casing and the wavy spring for fixing the bearing were changed to a configuration in which a spring was inserted. Through these measures, the weight was reduced from 220g of the original product to 120g, which was reduced by 45%.
Previously, based on glass fiber reinforced PA (polyamide), the new product was added with a reactive polymer with excellent abrasion resistance, and the wear amount of the corresponding component was reduced by half compared with that of ordinary PA.
Durability is equivalent to the original product, and it has passed the durability test equivalent to 100,000 km. In terms of the shaft diameter, six types of portions having a diameter of 42 to 58 mm which are in contact with the clutch are prepared.
The company will strengthen the clutch release bearing product line by introducing the TRZ series, and strive to achieve global sales of clutch release bearings up to 6 billion yen in 2012.
