Photovoltaic manufacturer Solar Frontier created a new record of 22.9% for thin-film solar cells. The company collaborated with the NEDO of the Japan Research and Development Agency to create this achievement on a 1 square cm solar cell. The National Institute of Industrial Technology (AIST) confirmed this record, which is 0.3% higher than the previous record created by German ZSW. This solar cell uses Solar Frontier's copper, indium and selenium (CIS) structures and has been enhanced by "Absorption Layer Absorption Technology and Enhanced Surface Treatment Processes."
