Japan launches tourist fingerprint authentication system

Since the beginning of this summer, the Japanese government plans to test a fingerprint authentication system for tourists, that is, a fingerprint can help visitors to complete identity authentication, purchase of goods, and payment of service fees. Japan hopes to find a more effective method of controlling the number of crimes before the 2020 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games and ways to ease the travel costs of tourists carrying cash or sham. Next, they will be the first to test 300 popular souvenir shops, restaurants, hotels and other entertainment venues in popular retail shops in some tourist centers.

However, under the existing government regulations, tourists are required to show their names when they are staying at the hotel.

Last October, a similar system was introduced to the Huis Ten Bosch theme park in Nagasaki, and the feedback received was very positive. A spokesman for the theme park said: "The system has been well received by customers and also includes children because they no longer need to bring a wallet."

In addition, Japan also intends to introduce such a system to its domestic citizens, which will enable people to withdraw money from ATMs without using bank cards, which will greatly increase security and reduce fraudulent transactions.

The Japanese government plans to radiate this system to Japan in 2017 and hopes to fully use it during the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games. At that time, going to the island country to play the game will be much easier. If implemented, this system will be a big benefit for Japanese tourists.
