The RFID national standard will soon be introduced

As a key technology of the Internet of Things, RFID has been the concept of encoding every grain of sand for nearly 10 years. However, as the domestic industry has matured, RFID "national standard" has not been able to keep up.

In fact, as early as in 2004, the news about RFID “national standard” will be published in newspapers, followed by news of “difficulty”. Will the introduction of "national standard" be a "wolf again"? In response, Rui Jingqiu, secretary general of China's RFID Industry Technology Innovation Alliance, told reporters that RFID “national standard” is expected to be introduced within two or three months, mainly to unify basic standards such as data formats, communication protocols, and basic security systems. specification. At present, after entering the application field, RFID technology can also be used by the industry itself to formulate some application standards. For example, tracking of dangerous goods logistics and electronic tickets currently have standardized application standards.

At present, there are already multiple RFID international standards in the world. Does China still need to have its own standards? Ju Jingqiu believes that China's RFID technology and industry have already reached a certain level and scale, and they must establish their own standards. In addition, considering the information security perspective, the use of other people’s standards is equivalent to allowing others to “read” their own item information while also paying others.

In the current promotion and application of RFID, there are hot issues such as standards, costs, business models, and security. The cost issue is considered to be a “stumbling block” for RFID promotion. In this regard, Yan Jingqiu said that at present, the domestic RFID industry chain is developing very fast, and now every label can already achieve 0.4 yuan, while China has the ability to produce 6 billion labels each year, which can meet the application of future markets.
