"Microfiber leather is a polymer synthetic material. After a special treatment process, it can be as soft and breathable as the leather, and it is more wear-resistant, free of heavy metals and harmless to the human body." Zhejiang Shengxin Industrial Group Gu Jianhui, a director and deputy general manager, said.

For entrepreneurs, the cost is the key to the type of material they are considering. Aokang's Red Firebird brand currently uses this microfiber leather in some shoes. “The cost of producing each pair of shoes can save about 20 yuan.” Zhou Wei, general manager of Red Firebird, said. In addition to the Red Firebird, Wenzhou's Orkney old man, Gerard and other brands have also started to use this alternative shoe material in their own products.
